At least once, people might have thought about their identity from experiencing different topics they learned. One of my classes mainly discussed about identity and autobiography from using avatars and readings. From creating avatars and readings, I was able to find my true identity.
Avatars are visual representation of yourselves which shows the characters of each persons look. I created my avatar from distinguishing my facial look which contains small eyes with round nose, a birthmark, and black hairs. Especially, the location of the birthmark shows who I am and it represents only one person, myself. Creating avatar provided an opportunity to find my identity which is figuring out the characters of my face.
Avatar was just the starting point of finding my identity, after reading the articles I was able to find who I am and understand myself. Especially the article, “Gee, You Don’t Seem Like an Indian From the Reservation”, provided a great help to find my identity. This article was about an American Indian who hates and fear of white American. At the end of the article, it seems that the author found true self from confronting different experiences. Then how did this article helped me to find myself? Ok, the answer is that the reading the article reminded me the past experiences that I experienced before. Consequently, reading the article assisted me to understand myself, such as, realizing that I am a person who does not have enough confidence or persistence to concentrate.
Overall, creating avatar and reading the article helped me to find my identity. Avatar became the starting point of finding my identity and then later the article provided a chance to understand my true myself. Now I know that the characters of my face are the small eyes with round nose, location of birth point, and black hairs. Moreover, I found that I am a person who needs confidence and concentration in order to live in our society.
